Beginning Distance Seminar with Jim Basic

This seminar is open to dogs with little or no distance training. Dogs should be confident on all obstacles.

This seminar will cover the straight away send command, “Go”; a lateral redirect command, “Out” and a command for a change of direction that usually involves a side change, “Turn” (or Left and Right).

Limited to: 12 Working Teams and 25 Auditors

$65.00 for Auditors, $75.00 for day of registration Auditors

Jim Basic owns and operates Power Paws Agility in San Jose, with his wife, Nancy Gyes. He has been competing and teaching agility since 1993 and has been a USDAA Board Member since 1999. Jim is a member of the Bay Team, TRACS, SMART, and VAST. He has competed in agility with four different border collies.

Mick 1991-2007 was Jim’s first dog to earn an agility champion title and win national championships in two agility organizations. He was USDAA National Champion in 1996; five time Grand Prix Finalist, USDAA Top Ten in all categories for 7 consecutive years. Mick was the first dog to earn the USDAA Platinum Lifetime Achievement Award. Mick retired with the most gambler legs in USDAA, and the most Gambler Top Ten points in the 26” height.

Swift 1995-2010 – received the USDAA Platinum Lifetime Achievement Award and was Two-time Grand Prix Finalist. Swift retired with the most gamble legs and most Top Ten Gambler points in the 22” jump height.

Spy 1999 – received the USDAA Platinum ADCH, the USDAA Grand Prix and Steeplechase Finalist. He was 2004 USDAA National Dog Agility Masters Team Champion.

Sweep 2006 – is Spy’s son and started competing 2008. He has earned his USDAA Agility Dog Champion- Silver and USDAA Tournament Master titles. He won the 2008 Bay Team USDAA Southwest Regional Grand Prix and has won Steeplechase Finals.

 

Some shade is available but bring your own in case it is all taken. Please clean up after your dogs. There are water tubs available for dogs and a drinking fountain for humans. Dogs that are aggressive towards people or other dogs or dogs barking excessively will be asked to leave without refund of fees. No harsh verbal or physical corrections, bark, prong or choke chain collars allowed on the grounds.
